After seeing a lot of signs up announcing
garage sale season in Seattle I knew I had to give em a shot! I was a little apprehensive this was a new area, do they do garage sales like they do in Utah? Ok I know that is a super silly thing to ask, but still you never know! So off My Mr and I went! My Mr. meticulously followed the signs leading us through the windy roads. Side note; An elderly lady in my ward said that “drunk people must have set up the road systems here.” And I couldn’t agree with her more! Back to the garage sale! We found it and walked down the pebbled walkway to the house. We scavenged around, My Mr Laying his eyes on 2 pressure cookers, which he got for a dollar. I continued to look, I tend to be particular at garage sales. When My Mr pointed out to be an old steamer trunk! I have been looking everywhere for a steamer trunk to store wii & blankets in in the front room area. I have been scouring craigslist only to realize that they were expensive, nothing for less than $100, OUCH! But this price tag of $20 was perfect and even my Mr agreed! So we loaded up our loot and headed home. I began to research ways to restore this old beauty! And here it is!
No inside shots I got excited and filled it! I simply re-papered it with some nice basic contact
paper. But the outside was rejuvenated with Old English and My Mr gave it a good waxing for me to protect it! The finished product looks amazing and we made sure to preserve the old shipping labels that adorned the outside we loved the character it added to the trunk! It’s perfect! And fits all that we need and more!
Tiny note; I also found this little red step stool
/ high chair. My Grandmother had one like this at her house, and I loved it, it reminded me of my childhood going to her house. I don’t know if she still has it, but I would love to have hers, in case it means something to some other grandchild I at least have this one to call my own, and think of her! I love items like this that remind me of my grandparents! I’m a sucker for nostalgia.
